Eighteen months ago, I began using AI. I had plenty of questions which led to a deliberate journey to stress-test Artificial Intelligence in real-world business scenarios. This all started with baseline productivity tasks—recording and summarizing meetings. It quickly evolved into building and interrogating complex corporate knowledge bases, automating process standard compliance, and drafting product specifications.
But the true frontier isn’t just using AI tools—it’s AI-driven business application development.

has long been involved in emerging technologies
contributing to middle-ware platform design
writing a white-paper before webservices that effectively described them
Training with an for Intalio Business Process Engine in Silicon Valley in 2005
Evaluating Business Process /and Integration platforms for clients
Using Bonita, Flowingly, Flokzu, RunMyProcess and (now) Workato

As an Enterprise Business Architect, my core objective was to determine how effectively AI can interpret complex enterprise architecture. Can AI build applications that “play well” within an existing business ecosystem? More importantly, how do we enforce strict governance and manageability so that AI-driven development yields scalable assets rather than operational chaos?
After rigorously testing multiple Next-Gen application generators and pushing them to their absolute breaking points (triggering regression errors, context limits, and architectural friction), I’ve identified the optimal tooling frameworks required to build enterprise-grade, interconnected applications.
To prove these concepts for my clients, I have developed a suite of functional, proprietary applications designed to solve distinct operational bottlenecks:
A delivery and service organizer that calculates optimal routes based on customer locations and timeframes. Crucially, the app detects scheduling slippage in real-time and automatically alerts customers via SMS with updated ETAs—protecting the customer experience without requiring manual intervention from the driver. *(Currently open for limited beta-testing with select clients).*
I spend a slice of my time doing professional photography and have not been satisfied with photographer’s gallery apps. Using Rork AI seemed like a good way to get what I really wanted. The result is a hybrid platform with Rork managing the Android app and Web Portal, and an Apple iPhone app soon to come.
I have used Supabase for data (which is also MFA capable) and Cloudinary for my media (photos and potentially videos). I have public galleries and a login gives clients access to private galleries like wedding photographs. I also generate a QR code for galleries and when a third party uses that form of invitation an account is created and a request is sent to the Gallery Reviewer (customer) to admit the person to the gallery.
There have been complexities in this app as I have read and updated meta-data in photographs housed in Cloudinary. All in all, this app is 99% ready for production now and the first client is starting to use it to rate and favourite their photos and then choose what media and sizes they want prints in. It’s not a ‘’killer app’’ – there is much more a platform could do, but it is very useful and I think I will add carefully to it, keeping focus, so it doesn’t grow too large!
The first addition will be automatic resizing and watermarking, which currently happens in my photography development environment. Rork has proven to be very useful, but one learning along the way is which AI is best to have Rork invoke for coding tasks. I occasionally change this as new AI releases come online.
A intelligent CRM and distribution engine built for a non-profit organization. It dynamically maps magazine distribution quantities against complex, weight-and-measure-shifting postal rules to automatically optimize postage costs. I built the original database back in the mid-2000s and it has never missed a beat, but it’s really time to make it cloud-available, enhanced and easier to use!
Advanced customer-facing applications that streamline media selection, trimming and compression of videos, noise removal and management of digital rights via automated watermarking. I have generated and installed this app on an Android phone and it works very well – much better than the ones I have used previously. I have even built a pipeline feature that enables the user to specify operations in a chain: for example, trim the video then compress it then do noise removal. There is also a batch operation so the user can clean up multiple videos in one go!
This app was a really good start into more serious ‘vibe coding’ and taught me how to work more successfully with AI for app creation. I will be releasing it to the app store at some stage, but for now my efforts are elsewhere 🙂
The crown jewel of this R&D initiative is a sophisticated Enterprise Business Architecture Modeler built on the Zachman Framework and Object Oriented Business Engineering (OOBE) (the foundational predecessor to TOGAF).
This application bridges the gap between high-level strategy and day-to-day execution by segregating and mapping the operational business model across three distinct layers:
By ingesting open-source diagramming utilities, this engine maps operational designs using standard BPMN 2.0 and UML notation. We are currently pioneering natural language integration, allowing architects to generate complex, compliant system diagrams simply by speaking to the AI.
NOTE: This app was really about testing the boundaries of AI development. It was not about creating a commercial offering, which has a lot of overheads (I speak from experience). It may however become an important part of The Process Expert‘s consulting toolkit.
Most of the current market noise is focused on fragmented, isolated AI use-cases. The real game afoot is holistic—encompassing your entire Operational Business Model.
The next architecture frontier is the creation of a semantic layer or service bus. This layer treats all application assets—whether generated by human developers or AI—as a unified ecosystem. It orchestrates cross-functional processes and pipes real-time data into an AI-monitored Executive Dashboard that dynamically measures true business performance. There is a concerted effort going into this area at the moment, with Anthropic leading the charge (in my opinion). My partner Zertain, to whom I am a Board Advisor, is now a Preferred Services Partner in Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network.
AI will inevitably create market winners and losers over the coming year by drastically driving down cost structures and multiplying operational velocity. However, AI cannot optimize a broken process. To leverage these breakthrough technologies, you must first define, clean, and govern your underlying Operational Business Model.
At The Process Expert, we specialize in aligning your business architecture with the future of automation. We know which AI tools to deploy, when to deploy them, and how to ensure they remain strictly governed.
