Sales can be a messy affair without a proper process! Experience has taught Steve that customers like to know where they are at and what’s coming next as they consider using the services of The Process Expert. So this is how we normal 9 step Sales Consultation Process:

1. Service Inquiry

You may find us through word of mouth, through an article Steve wrote, through a partner organisation or via a web search. No matter which way, your service inquiry is important to us and we want to talk to you, so we will offer a Free Initial Consultation, normally via Google Meet.

2. Initial Consultation

Our Free initial Consultation is a great chance for us to get to know each other. Steve will want to know what drove your inquiry, the challenges you are facing and the hopes you have for transforming your business operations. 

After our discussion, Steve will know if we can really help you and you will have some comfort about The Process Expert’s fit for your organisation. 

If we are both happy and think there’s a ‘win-win’ coming, we will schedule our free Exploratory Consultation

3. Exploratory Consultation

Now we are getting to know each other, we will ask you for some documentation relevant to the area you want our help in. That will most likely include an Organisation Chart that includes roles, copies of any relevant business process or workflow diagrams, policies and procedure documents.

Our Exploratory Consultation will dive into your problem area and explore the way your organisation currently works and where the problems lie. By the end of this conversation, we want you to be satisfied you have related the basics of your ‘current state’; the problems you have; what your priorities are for change and how you are hoping to achieve an improved operating model.

The output of our Exploratory Consultation is very important to us as it helps shape the proposal by which we intend to help your organisation. We record all of these sessions because we value what you have to say!

4. Proposal Presentation

We use the outputs of our Exploratory Consultation along with other materials you have provided to produce a Proposal for you. This details what we understand of you organisation, your current state and challenges, and the area(s) you most want to see improvement to.

Because we value relationship, we present the proposal to you rather than just emailing it. Your confirmation of the picture we have of your organisation, problems and areas for improvement is really important and we will ask you to confirm these as we go through the proposal. If we have understood you correctly and you are happy with what we propose, we will take on board any changes you suggest along with our own notes and produce a contract.

5. Contract Presentation

Once again, we like to present the contract so we can do a walk-through with you. This is not a time consuming process and it’s not because of legalities – it’s more because we want to again ensure you get what you want! Given the contract is based on two previous conversations, we normally have few surprises at this stage and are more likely to see smiles and nodding heads than frowns. We naturally take on board any changes you would like. There may need to be some brief negotiation about scope, responsibilities, milestones and signoffs; but this is a good thing because having the same mind makes our project all the more likely to be a success!

Success at this stage is a happy, confident customer:

  1. Who is really engaged and confident that The Process Expert is a good choice for your project 
  2. Who is happy the Proposal and Contract are accurate and workable
  3. Who is ready to engage and commit resources within agreed timeframes to make the project happen.
